How is a paternity test carried out ?

  1. Regulations : since 1April 2007, paternity testing has been regulated by the Federal Law on Human Genetic Analysis (LAGH) and by the Ordinance on the Establishing of DNA Profiles for Civil and Administrative Purposes (OPFI). It is stipulated in the LAGH that for tests requested privately, the laboratory must inform the individuals concerned of the provisions of the civil code pertaining to the establishment of lineage and bring to their attention the possible psychological and social repercussions of the test.
     
  2. Preliminary conditions : the Laboratory pays particular attention to ethics and the protection of personal data. Accordingly, only requests from private individuals for which informed consent has been obtained from all adults involved in the process are accepted. No tests are carried out unbeknown to interested parties !
     
  3. Request : please make your request in writing or contact us by telephone. We accept requests from all countries; howeverour reports are written in French.
     
  4. Acceptance of request and appointment : we will examine your request and contact you as soon as possible to inform you of our decision. The latter is based mainly on ethical and legal criteria, as well as our ability to meet your request in accordance with time and cost constraints. If the request is accepted, we will make the necessary arrangements for samples to be taken.
     
  5. Test : All our tests are performed in duplicate.
     
  6. Dispatch of test report : our report will be sent to you within two weeks of the commencement of tests. Please note that we will only commence tests on receipt of your payment.
